Carving on the bones of the peoples of the North refers to one of the ancient folk crafts.
In 2015, the Tobolsk factory of bone-cutting products celebrated its 85th anniversary. She became the successor to the artel of bone carvers, organized in 1929 by V. Denisov and T. Peskov. Today, this is the only active enterprise in Russia. Each piece of craftsmen-bone-cutters surprises with the elegance of performance and harmony. Among their products can be found women's jewelry, caskets, knives etc. From the canines of walruses and teeth of the sperm whale, the elk's horns and the bones of the mammoth, the masters create miniatures depicting the life of the peoples of the North, whole stories in pictures.
Creativity of craftsmen of different generations was awarded with gold medals at international exhibitions in Paris and Brussels, and the factory itself was awarded "Badge of Honor" of Russia.
